Knife is a Hebrew non fiction memoir by Salman Rushdie, one of the world's most celebrated novelists.

On the morning of August 12, 2022, Rushdie was attacked by a hate filled young fundamentalist who stabbed him repeatedly in front of a stunned audience, 34 years after the fatwa issued against him over The Satanic Verses. In this Hebrew book, Rushdie recounts with courage and wisdom the story of the attack, his severe injuries, the fight for his life, and his need to keep living it as a writer.

Stepping away from the magical realism he is known for, Rushdie chooses a direct, confessional style focused on choosing love over the hatred that struck him, embodied by his wife, the poet Rachel Eliza Griffiths. The book's climax, an imagined encounter with his attacker, exposes both religious fanaticism and the emptiness of our times.
